Blooming plant growers join forces in the market
Effective January 1, 2025, Bromelia Specialist, Karma Plants, Van der Voort Potplanten, Concorde Plants, and The Orchid Growers (Ter Laak Orchids and Orchios) will combine their market proposition. On May 17, the parties signed a cooperation agreement to this effect. The growers will establish a new organization focused on the sales and marketing of (flowering) houseplants.
Henk de Jong of The Orchid Growers stated: “Consolidation among exporters calls for professional partners. Where previously the focus was mainly on price and availability, there is now a need for product information, assortment advice, sustainability content, digitization, and data acquisition and interpretation. This input helps our logistic- and export partners to better support florists, garden centers, and retail chains. The contemporary challenges in the supply chain have become too complex to tackle as an individual production company. Together, we can achieve much more and perform more professionally than we could individually.”
In the coming months, the parties will further establish the new organization and develop its name and corporate identity. Starting January 1, the new company will begin operations, with sales and marketing staff from the production companies working from a single location. This will allow the production companies to focus more on product development and a market focused production. The growers also aim to strengthen each other in this area. Bjorn Bunnik of Bromelia Specialist added: “Particularly in cultivation and sustainability, we can jointly address challenges, share knowledge, and invest in development together.”
